Tips and advice for getting the most out of your booking

Wedding Hair Prep For Bridesmaids

Firstly, you and your maids need to decide what style they’re all having, both look at lots of pictures - Pinterest is great for this – try and find images of the front and back of how you want it to look. The front is often over looked when picking a style, think about if you want it all off the face or softer with pieces around the face – Do they have a fringe?

Once you have an idea of how you want it to look, the next thing to think about is accessories to finish the look off. Maybe a comb or vine with some bling is what you’re after! Or maybe some beautiful pins would be more suited or fresh flowers or even dried flowers are more your perfect look. Etsy is fantastic for accessories; so is eBay for a great bargain!

Then the day before the big day, I need everyone to do me a favour, and that’s wash and dry their hair. The old wives’ tale of dirty hair being better for styling is not true, especially nowadays with all the fantastic styling products I have. Freshly washed hair is so much better for styling than slightly greasy hair, which looks flatter and doesn’t hold as well as clean hair.

One of the most important thing for the morning of the wedding is that everyone’s hair is clean and dry when they sit down in front of me. This means the morning will run smoothly and we can stick to timings.

Then it’s time to enjoy the process and fun of the wedding morning!

How to get the most from your trial…

The trial is a very important part of the process, it where we get to meet up, some times for the first time in person, and put together the plan of how the wedding morning is going to look. Trials normally take around and hour and half, depending on the number of styles we try out, here is a list of things to think about to get the most from the trial itself…

Look at pinterest and google for images of the kind of styles you like - also think about what you really don’t like - do you like a lot of volume? do you hate your hair all off your face? What style of curls / waves do you want? Pictures are a great way for me to understand what you want. Even if it’s just one part of a style you like, also think about how you want the front to look, people focus a lot on the back but most of your photos and what you’ll see if the front so lets get that bit perfect!

Remember to think about your own hair, blonde hair looks completely different to dark hair - blondes show off the details and texture of the hair style where as darker hair colours are normally shinier but can hide delicate details. So if you’re a brunette and looking at a lot of blonde hair ups just be mindful that they will look different on your hair. Also a lot of styles on the internet have hair extensions fitted, clip in extensions are fantastic at adding volume and length as well as adding support of down styles as they work like scaffolding for the natural hair which makes curls and waves last longer. They are also great for adding extra volume for up-styles for when you just don’t have quite enough hair yourself. I recommend double weft clip in extensions from www.cliphair.co.uk they are fantastic quality and have a great range of colours.

Think about your dress - if you bought the dress of your dreams because the back details are incredible, you won’t want to cover that up with your hair.

Accessories - whether its small delicate pins, or a statement headband accessories are really important to finish off the look. Are you having a veil? It’s great to have these with you for your trial so that you can see the final look.

Wash and dry your hair the evening before your trial, the old wives tail of dirty hair is better for styling is wrong. I have a vast array of products that are designed exactly for the job and so clean hair is best for styling. Slightly greasy hair will look flatter, and is just not good for styling and doesn’t hold.

Have an open mind, just like with your dress, you may have thought you want it a particular way; maybe you’ll be completely surprised with what you actually decide to have.
